I firmly believe that A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide)-Fifth Edition is a must-have for professional project managers.

Do not expect an easy to read and understand book, but a high-level guide on project management, its processes, tools and techniques.

PMP Exam Prep is a very good study companion to the PMBOK guide.

It is much better readable compared to the PMBOK and includes tips for memorizing things.

Rita Mulcahy, PMP, is an international expert in project managements with over 15 years experience. She has taught over 4,500 project managers from around the world. She has helped write the PMP exam and is one of only about 15 trainers PMI uses for worldwide project management training.

A Project Manager's Book of Forms: A Companion to the PMBOK Guideexternal link to Amazon

by Project Management Institute

The book of forms covers the basic concepts behind the PMBOK and provides a good understanding for project managers that haven't developed these type of forms before. All forms are very basic empty templates.

It is definitely not a set of forms to fill in all information in order to prepare the project management plan. But the forms provide a good guidance and additional understanding on how to develop the project management plan and subsidiary plans and documents.

Earned Value Project Management (Fourth Edition) to me is a very valuable book, worth every single penny I paid. The book is a very good reference on the EVM subject.

The book refers to well-chosen real world examples and methodologies are easily adoptable.

It is a good study source for professional certifications in project management, cost engineering and related areas.

The Certified Quality Engineer Handbook, Third Edition is a very good guide for all planning to undergo the ASQ CQE exam. It can also be a helpful reference in daily quality work.

Partially the book however is a bit complex to read and is not a book for beginners.
